Clicks vs. Views

When you are reviewing your reporting Clicks and Views are often the first things you look at. At first glance the meaning of these statistics is seems obvious. The numbers by themselves though can be misleading. When you click the "Reports" button on your dashboard you will see summaries of reports for the blasts you've sent:

Lets define how clicks and views are generated:

Views: A view is when a user opens an email message that you send. We use a transparent 1 pixel image to track when a message is opened. This is important to understand because many common email clients (Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo) block images by default. If a viewer does not load images in their email then we cannot track the fact that they viewed the message. Views can take up to 24 hours to show up on your report. It is possible for someone to view a message multiple times.

Clicks: Clicks are recorded when someone clicks a link in your email message. The number of clicks can be higher than the number of views because people can generate a click without generating a view. People can also generate more than one click.

You may need more detailed information. Click on the subject of the message you want better information on and look on the right hand side of the screen. There is some more detailed information on clicks and views:

When viewing the full report you can see the actual number of unique viewers and clickers. This can give you a much better idea of how your campaign has performed. In addition you can see what the percentage of unique viewers and clickers is versus the actual number of messages delivered.
